My Research

I work jointly between the Dementia Research Centre and Centre for Medical Image Computing to lead the translation of imaging biomarkers from the latter to use in large scale dementia studies. This includes deploying new software solutions for image management (using XNAT), analysis and visualisation. I am currently leading the UCL team on the structural MRI analysis of the international Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network (DIAN), a global study of families with early onset familial AD, and assisting on other large multi-centre trials such as GENetic Frontotemporal Initiative (GENFI).

About me

I hold a BS from Duke University in Biomedical Engineering and Electrical Engineering, along with a MS and PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Vanderbilt University. I then moved over to the UK as a postdoctoral research fellow at CMIC in 2005. I later joined IXICO Ltd., a clinical research organisation specialising in medical imaging analysis, where for five years I ran the image acquisition and analysis components of large scale multicentre imaging studies as part of Alzheimer’s Disease trials. These trials were both pharmaceutical funded phase II and III trials of promising therapies for Alzheimer's. Then in August 2011, I returned to UCL to take up my current role.
