Duties and Responsibilities
Applicants are invited to apply for the position of Research Associate in an internationally leading research centre in medical image computing and image-guided interventions.
The aim of the research is to develop novel software-based technologies for guiding minimally invasive, laparoscopic interventions for the treatment of liver cancer.
The post is available immediately and is funded for one year in the first instance.
Experience in the design, development and validation of surgical software and guidance systems, strong collaborative software engineering skills using languages such as C++, and a record of publishing in high-impact, peer-reviewed academic journals are essential.
Experience with relevant open source software toolkits, such as ITK and MITK, GPU programming using CUDA or OpenCL and working closely with clinicians in a hospital environment, are highly desirable but not essential. Applicants must have a PhD, or expect to receive the award of PhD before the post is taken up or have equivalent experience and must also be able to demonstrate strong mathematical and problem solving skills.
